Activity: Planning/Consensus Building Meetings
Sipsaru team along with the Ginigathena Medical Officer of Health and his staff made several visits to Dehigastenne Vidyalaya to observe the areas for improvement. Series of discussions were held and consensus was reached on the broad plan of Health Promotion Activities. Also, agreement was reached on the guiding principles of the partnership between SIPSARU and the school
As was planned a two-day training was held in October 2018, for a team of forty, comprising of students, teachers and parents. The training was held with the support of St. John Ambulance Brigade. All who participated had to undergo an examination at the end of the training. All who qualified will be awarded a certificate recognizing them as professional First Aid workers.
The First AID boxes (at principal’s office and in the primary section building) were replenished and the First Aid team and the teachers were given an orientation on management of these.
Performance of the team is being monitored and follow up activities that include an exchange visit from a Kandy district team and a series of refresher training are planned for 2019.
