I feel quite privileged to be the president of our organization Sipsaru, that was established in late 2017. Sipsaru is comprised of a group of professionals who devote their time and expertise voluntarily without seeking personal publicity and work with the underprivileged schools with the objective of transforming those into model Health Promoting Schools. The first school that was chosen was Dehigastenne Vidyalaya in Ginigathena.
The experience in Dehigastenne Vidayalaya for last three years had been very rewarding; the cleanliness and discipline has improved; Motivation amongst the teachers and students are enhanced; Success rate at the G.C.E Ordinary level examinations have improved tremendously.
Most of all, the teachers, students and parents are learning new skills in promoting their own health.
